OvercomingOCD – Patience and Perseverance

By Shannon Shy from “OCD Can Be Defeated”

OCD recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a journey that has lots of twists and turns and ups and downs. Sometimes it feels like you are sliding backward or even have fallen deep back in to the hell pit. Have patience. No matter what, do not quit. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back on the path. Have an unconditional commitment to your recovery; to trying to do the things that make OCD weaker – thought by thought, compulsion by compulsion. Do not try to track your immediate progress or put your recovery on a “I must be recovered by a certain date” on the calendar. OCD will only use this against you. Focus on implementing your strategy, right here, right now. That is what you control. Your patience and perseverance will pay off. I know this to be true.

OCD can be defeated. I’m with you. Let’s go.
