Emotional Abuse

What Sartre meant when he wrote, “Hell is other people”

No human being, child or adult, should have to endure the psychological terrorism of emotional abuse that leaves deep wounds to the psyche that never truly heal.

Can they be mitigated and managed? Yes. Erased? No.

  1. “Hell is other people” I’ve endured emotional abuse in my life. And it’s true, as you say, it doesn’t really heal. It lingers somewhere even after a very long time. But I think “Hell is other people” is a little one-sided because there’s also a “Heaven is other people.”
