If someone is too cruel to give respect and love, they aren’t a part of my world

While the ideal response to stigma and bias surrounding our mental illness is to try to understand where the other person is coming from and to educate them, sometimes I just don’t have it in me.

When I can’t muster the strength to understand/educate, or when a toxic person tries to shame me ot treat me as “less than” for having Bipolar Disorder (or looks at me like I’m a 3 headed monster), “talk to the hand” is a very appropriate response.

We are human beings who are sick or ill. We are as worthy of love and respect as people with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or the like.

If someone is too cruel to give it, they aren’t a part of my world.
