For those of us who learned to maladaptively counter a shaming environment with perfectionism, learning to make mistakes, publicly, and to take accountability for them, takes a great deal of courage.
As we grow and learn that mistakes are natural, inevitable, and instrumental to learning and growing, we become more comfortable with these risks. They feel natural and we feel a sense of belonging in the universe. Even when we make a mistake.
We learn to value them for the learning and growth opportunities that they are.
That has been my experience.
