Suffering is the universal experience that all human beings share. No one gets off of the Earth without experiencing it.
Consequently, one would think that our human community would eagerly pull together to help one another instead of inflicting more suffering, ignoring those who suffer, or judging them so as to rationalize blaming them for their misery.
Stigma, ignorance, maladaptive behaviors that don’t fit “social standards,” and the sometimes invisible nature of the pain of mental illness, emotional trauma, and addiction make those who suffer these maladies frequent targets of judgment and disregard for their pain and plight.
Time to evolve.
