According to Gerard Moeller, MD, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at UT Medical School, Houston, impulsivity can be defined as “a pre-disposition toward rapid, unplanned reactions to internal or external stimuli without regard to the negative con-sequences of these reactions to the impulsive individual or to others.” In other words, a person acts or speaks without thinking or caring about the fallout.
